Brave Bromley officer single-handedly detains violent theft suspects
A brave Bromley officer managed to single-handedly detain aggressive suspects of a moped theft.
Sergeant Rob Goodwin, a local neighbourhood officer for Penge, was first to arrive at the scene, where local members of the community told him that the three males were hiding in a nearby property.
Two males then emerged and launched into a sustained attack, where one of them ripped Sgt Goodwin’s body worn video from his uniform.
Further units were dispatched to respond to the officer’s call for assistance, including a nearby firearms unit.
Despite the violent struggle, Sgt Goodwin was able to keep hold of each suspect to prevent them from getting away, detaining them both up against a fence.
As his colleagues arrived, the third male emerged, armed with a wooden pole, which he threw at officers.
Thanks to Sgt Goodwin’s actions, all three suspects were arrested and the moped was returned to the owner.
